Police are still investigating the Jennifer Hudson family murders of her mother, brother and nephew, the actress held a private ceremony lying to rest her family members in a south side Chicago church last week while investigators work to solve three cases in a city being referred to as the murder capital of the world in recent news reports. Hudson is staying in Donald Trumps Chicago hotel with her family where according to reports she is staying free of charge and Trump say’s she will be well protected.

There were reports that William Balfour the actress’s brother in law could be released from jail, he was being held on charges of parole violation unrelated to the Hudson murders. Following a prison review board findings  it was determined he would not be released.

According to news reports Illinois prison officials ordered that Balfour continue being held at least until his December 3 hearing. Their findings were related to the prosecutors report that Balfour’s girlfriend Shonta Cathey said she saw him with a gun matching the color of the murder weapon found by police which is said to have been used in all three killings.

Balfour is said to have violated his parole by being in a location where drugs were being sold according to the review board findings. Balfour was not in agreement with the findings of the prosecutors’ information being used to hold him in prison. If he is continued denial by the review board he could be held up to May of 2009 on parole violation charges.

Balfour is the husband of Julia Hudson, the older sister of Jennifer. Julia and her husband were separated at the time of the murders. Police continue an on going investigation into the murders which at this time no charges have been filed against Balfour, he continues only to be held at Statevile prison on charges of parole violation since October 26 according to officials.

  1. The problem I am having with this case is that police have yet to name Balfour as a suspect or have said he is not involved. I think it would be a lot better for the Hudson family if they knew for sure the person responsible for this tragedy is locked up behind bars.

  2. There are obviously a lot of unanswered questions in this case, yet hopefully they will be answered soon for the sake of the family and the community.
