Residents of Chicago remain in a dual mood, celebrating history in the making as Senator Barack Obama’s prepares for election night in his city, but also mourning the lost of actress Jennifer Hudson’s Family in the triple murder tragedy.

Hudson and family members attended a private memorial service Monday at Apostolic Church of God on the city’s south side. Private services were held for her mother Darnell Donerson 57, her brother Jason Hudson 29, and her nephew 7 year old Julian King; they were all three found shot to death over the last two weeks.

Residents lined up across the street from the church to show support to the actress, but were kept at a distance from guest attending the services. A large group gathered to enter the church where Hudson and family came together with friends to do what must be unimaginable hard, say goodbye to a mother, brother and child.

Fantasia sang a gospel song to her friend Hudson and according to reports she held the actresses hand during the song. Hudson was reportedly strong as she said farewell to her family. Many attribute her strength to her mother who she always spoke of during interviews. Hudson has an entire city looking out for her and showing love in Chicago.

The family’s privacy was protected with the rear entrance area gate covered. Hearts around the world go out to the actress and her family who have suffered from such a horrible tragedy.

Police have not made any arrest in the case, person of interest William Balfour remains jailed on charges related to a parole violation. He has not been charged with the murders of the victims. Police continue to investigate the murders and have not reported any new leads as of this update.
